Classes:   Nearly all the classes are suitable for both beginners and those with more experience. While beginners will go through the basic technique, those with more experience will be offered the chance to try something a bit more demanding.

4th Nov Jewellery making I: putting together a necklace /bracelet:

From a selection of stringing/threading materials, and beads you will work out your own design and put together a necklace using appropriate tools- depending on the materials you have chosen. There will be various examples, and books / magazines for inspiration. In this class we will be developing ideas for stringing / threading construction rather than making beads (depending on materials you pick there may be an additional materials charge)

11th Nov jewellery making II: bead making: paper wool wire plastic

use a variety of materials including re-using plastic bags, paper scrap etc to make beautiful beads that you can string by themselves or with bits from old jewellery in new necklaces/bracelets/earrings.

18th Nov jewellery making: working with wire

using copper wire of various colours and thicknesses we will try a variety of techniques such as crochet, knitting, wrapping, coiling, twisting to make pendants, earrings, brooches.

25th Nov silk paper making- make stunning bits for your cards

using various silk fibres and a host of other bits and pieces we will create paper that can be used on its own, as part of your christmas or other cards, or incorportated into embroidery or various other projects

2nd Dec - felt brooches

we will try out a couple of styles each of felted brooches: make a ‘day wear’ and an ‘evening wear’ beauty! perhaps a corsage type thing, or something a little more abstract. There will be several examples to get you started, and plenty of bits and pieces to embellish and add to your pieces.

 

9th Dec -party pieces

we’ll use all sorts of bits and pieces to concoct a little something to party you up- perhaps a fascinator/hair slide, perhaps something to brighten your dinner table, or to put round the lights. Come and have a go!

Wed mornings 10.30-12.30 £12

5th Nov needle felting

try your hand at dry felting using a felting needle. Make 3D felt figures, or paint with fibre on to felt or other fabrics. Experiment with how other fabrics behave with the felting needle.

12th Nov Silk paper

try making your own paper, that you could use for making your own christmas cards this year! or incorporating into embroidery or jewellery

19th Nov Plastic Bag jewellery    

explore different ways of re-using/ recyling plastic bags to make beads and brooches.

26th Nov felt bead making   

make some gorgeous felt beads large and small patterned and plain, wool and mixed. String them together for neckalces, bracelets, key fobs, use them for buttons, edging and so on and so on.

3rd Dec felt brooches      

trying out different techniques for acheiving different surface textures we will make a sample pieces that we may then embellish and turn into little brooches for ourselves or our lucky friends and relatives.

10th Dec felt pouch/ seamless pocket ( or even shoe-let)

make a 3D piece of felt, ie a bag or pouch or pot or pocket. the possibilities are endless!

17th Dec Christmas decorations  

come and make decorations to dress your house/desk/table, using all sorts of bits and pieces. have a mince pie, and a christmas toast!
